NYE in Vail

Good Morning Lovelies!

I cannot believe that we are already days into the new year and back on the every-day work grind! I am fortunate this year in that I am about to enter the last semester of my Masters degree (graduating in May), so I don’t actually start back until January 16! I am enjoying some relaxing time at home, and reminiscing on our NYE trip to Vail, Colorado!

For the past several years we have rung in the New Year in a relatively formal way, last year we spent it in Disney and we frequently spend it in Scotland. This year, we traded in the dresses and heels for sweaters and cozy boots, and let me tell you, we all LOVED every minute of it. Vail is a special place because it feels very European, it was created specifically to be a ski resort, and it is absolutely gorgeous! We stayed in the Arabelle, on Vail Square and it was perfect! The Arabelle is a ski-in ski-out resort which means you can essentially walk out of the hotel and step into a Gondola! We arrived on Saturday afternoon and spent the day exploring the small village of Vail Square! On Sunday (NYE) we spent the entire day skiing, before coming down from the mountain to ring in the new year! Where we were, in Vail Square, the only bar that was open was the one in our hotel. So it was a hilarious mix of ages (ranging from college kids to older grandparents). Everyone had a blast singing and dancing and then there was a massive countdown at 12! It was a blast! And the best part was that everyone was cozy in their boots and sweaters (I would have looked SO out of place in heels and a dress)!

The next day was a very very special day because it was my Mom’s 50th birthday! We spent the morning on the slopes again, and then went to this super adorable place (Blue Moose Pizza), for lunch! There, we celebrated my mom and opened presents for her, before heading back to the hotel bar to watch our Sooners (devastatingly loose) in the Rose Bowl!

After the loss, morale was low, but we rallied and headed to Vail Village! Vail Village is about .5 mile from Vail Square, and the Arabelle has a free shuttle that will get you there in about 6 minutes! We had fun walking around that little square and then stopped for some hot chocolate and a warm seat by the fire!

The next day we had a leisurely morning (we headed back to Vail Village for some shopping) and then we headed to the airport to board our flight!

We all agree that this is the most fun NYE that we have had to date! We definitely all have the skiing bug and I’m already dying to go back!
